Founded by Chris Hovey in 2005 after 25 years in the building industry.  Oak Square Architectural Design is an experienced award winning design practice based in Hethersett, just 5 miles south of Norwich, our work can be found across Norfolk and Suffolk in commercial, Industrial and Domestic sectors.

As a small practice of 2, all project designs are carried out by one person ensuring personal contact and continuity throughout.  We pride ourselves on offering a personal service from initial design to full approval whether your project is big or small.

Chris Hovey

Chris established Oak Square Architectural Design in 2005 after more than 25 year's experience in the building industry.  He is a Chartered Building Engineer and is member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.  He is also an associate member of the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors)
​

Chris has a real passion for buildings and design and when traveling the world will look for inspiration and new techniques.  Where ever he travels, he will often be found on a building site.

​

An award winning Architectural designer, Chris's informal yet inspired designs have been featured in 'Inside Readers Homes' and have received Enhancement Awards from Broadland District Council in both the domestic and commercial categories.

​

Priding himself on finding equilibrium between function and beauty, he works closely with both client and those on site to ensure this is achieved.  His broad range of skills and enthusiasm spans from vast industrial units through to intimate extensions, from sustainable eco-buildings to listed buildings and barn conversions.

​

Chris uses his computer skills together with sketches to produce the designs in both 2D and 3D visions for clients to understand.

​

Having previously worked for a number of years as a Building Control Officer, Chris has extensive knowledge of this aspect of design.  This, together with detailed construction knowledge, has provided him with the core skills necessary to provide a practical designs while still ensuring innovation and value engineering.

Liz Hovey

Liz joined the partnership in 2009 following a career in organisation and staff training.  Her skills and expertise allow her to provide a smooth transition through the clerical aspects of building and planning applications leaving Chris to concentrate on the technical aspect of design. 

​

Working closely with Chris, Liz helps give clients a personal friendly, efficient  and professional experience.  She plays a large part in helping Chris to provide a continuity of service that larger firms are often less able to deliver.
