Process....

1. Initital Meeting

The first stage for any project no matter how large or small is to meet and discuss the design brief and requirements.

At this meeting it is important to let us know what you want to achieve and any budget that you may have.

Following the meeting a design brief and quote for the services you require will be sent to you for approval prior to any design work being undertaken.

This consultation is free of charge and you are under no obligation to proceed with the project.

2. Measured
    Survey

A suitable and convenient time will be organised to complete the measured survey of the property.

This typically takes a few hours and is best completed in daylight hours.  Photographs and measurements of the property will need to be taken of all areas affected by the design.

3. Initial
    design
    drawings

A full set of design drawings including plans, elevations and sections to show the proposed designs will be drawn up and discussed with you the client.

This will include drawings to show the existing property where applicable.

Once you are happy with the design if necessary the design and access statement would be prepared ready for planning submission.

4. Planning
    submission

If required once the final design has been approved by you the client, we can make the required planning submissions to the relevant local authorities.

Please note that you as the client will be responsible for the planning fee, paid directly through the planning portal.

We at Oak Square Architectural Design will make the planning submission and monitor it as it proceeds through the planning process and liaise between the authority and client as required, in order to achieve a decision.

5. Construction
    information

Once planning permission has been obtained the next stage is to produce the detailed drawings, sections and notes to apply for building regulation approval.

At this point it may be necessary to obtain other specialist reports such as;

- Structural engineers calculation

- EPC

- SAP

- Topographical survey

These designs are the ones normally used by the builders to give you a quotation for the work involved.

Any special requirements you may have regarding lighting, heating etc will be incorporated at this time.

6. Approval &
   commencement
   of project

Once all of the approvals have been received work can commence on your project!

It is important to ensure that you use a competent builder who follows the design and details given to them.

Oak Square Architectural are just a phone call away for any issues that may arise.
